Academic Certification
This is the highest form of academic relationship with Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) and the process is executed in 3 phases.
Phase I: Initial Site Visit
Phase I identifies hospitality education needs through meetings with stakeholders and visits to requisite establishments. This will allow us to recommend the most useful educational initiative for the country/region, for the short and long term.
In order to see the bigger picture in that region, LHC seeks its information from different sources and industry players:
- Government officials: tourism, education and training
- Hospitality and tourism industry professionals and sites: hotels, restaurants, hotel association, tourism association and restaurant association
- Existing hospitality education institutions in the area
- Swiss contacts: embassy and LHC contacts
Visits are executed by two consultants over 3 days. A final report is produced and submitted to the client. Thereafter, both parties decide if they wish to proceed with Phase II.
Phase II: Curriculum Design and Pre-Opening
Phase II supports the client institution by the design of a customised academic curriculum and the recruitment, training and development of a project manager, core management team and faculty members to initiate a benchmark academic institution.
Possible academic projects within this step could be:
- Projects with no existing infrastructure/facility
- Projects with existing infrastructure/facilities but with no hospitality programme of study
- Projects with existing infrastructure/facilities and with existing hospitality programme(s) of study
Phase III: Academic Quality Audits and Certification
Phase III provides continuous quality support to the client institution to ensure that it remains a regional benchmark learning institution.
LHC continues to provide support in the areas of in Phase II, including a curriculum revision. Students from the client institution are facilitated in their learning endeavours through a case-by-case transfer opportunity with other Lausanne-certified institutions, including EHL.
