Lausanne-Certified School Network gathered in Beijing
The Second Lausanne-Certified Schools Biennial Conference, held on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 October 2011 at the Beijing Hospitality Institute, was a great success.
The official opening of the conference
The curtain of the conference was raised by our H.E. Swiss Ambassador Blaise Godet. Delegates of Lausanne-Certified Schools had the opportunity to meet, discuss and benchmark their respective Learning Programmes. The Changing World of Hospitality and its impact on Hospitality education were discussed.
Industry professionals engaged in education
Among honorary guest speakers, Mr Zhang Rungang, President of China Tourist Hotel Association, presented the topic of the role of China in the future of the hospitality industry. Mr Zhang is a graduate of the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne. A panel of discussion represented by industry professionals raised the debate of the role of hospitality education institutes. One of the main conclusions was that hospitality institutes and the industry must partner and develop the right talent for the future of hospitality. The panel was represented by:

EHL honored to be welcomed by the Sate Councilor of China
On the second day of the conference, Ms Liu Yandong, State Councilor of People Republic of China received the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne. Ms Liu praised the results of cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Switzerland during the meeting.
A new family member of the Lausanne-Certified Network
EHL was also pleased to announce the addition of Hanyang University Hospitality Academy, South Korea, as part of the Lausanne-Certified Network.
The next Biennial Conference
A highlight of the closing ceremony of the event was the Passing of the Ball to Centro de Estudios Superiores San Angel (CESSA) in Mexico, who will be hosting the next Biennial Conference in 2013.
