In fact, while driving change in every industry both as consumers and as employees, they are now urging education systems to adapt to their needs by switching to a more technological approach.

Without a doubt, distance learning platforms have been so far a useful tool for these generations. Teleconferences, podcasts, webinars and online courses have all provided great opportunities for students to learn even from remote geographical locations. Hospitality education always has a practical component because this industry is hands-on.

How can we learn about food carving or bed-making only by reading a book or watching a 2D video? We can’t, and this is because, beside practice, we are missing the true three-dimensional nature of each object. Of course schools could create their own 3D explanatory videos, but is it worth to invest that much money when for each process you could have one standard hologram accessible to the whole industry? Not to mention that, differently from a video, these holograms will also make homework much more interactive and fun for students (therefore much more efficient).

We can read case studies, we can go through intensive training and try to be ready to handle any circumstance, but the truth is that life in a hotel is unpredictable because each guest is as unique as his/her request. Moreover, globalization keeps enhancing our sense of community and desire for cross-cultural knowledge. And in this scenario, holograms can really become the pillars of a whole new education system.
